Protein Puppy Chow

Puppy chow or muddy buddies are a crowd pleaser. But for those that have dietary restrictions, it is often a treat that they can’t enjoy. REMIX! With my protein packed version of this gluten free and vegan treat, it is enjoyable for all.



Ingredients

  • 4 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 2 scoops chocolate protein powder
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips, melted (use dairy or sugar free if preferred)
  • 1/2 tbsp coconut oil, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a microwave safe bowl, add the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and coconut oil. Slowly heat until melted. Stir well until everything is combined.
  2. Add ½ scoop of the protein powder and vanilla into the melted chocolate mixture and mix well.
  3. In a large bowl, add the rice Chex. Pour the chocolate peanut butter mixture on top and stir until the cereal is well coated.
  4. Either place the puppy chow mix into the refrigerator for 20 minutes or let it sit out on the counter and dry for about one hour.
  5. Slowly add the rest of the protein powder on top of the chocolate covered cereal, and stir until it is evenly distributed. Then your protein puppy chow is ready to enjoy.
